“Lit’ doesn’t get any better than this!”

Each April, authors, publishers and book-lovers celebrate the best of local literature at the Minnesota Book Awards Ceremony. In 2016 we return to the beautiful and historic Union Depot in Lowertown, Saint Paul. Books, autographs, refreshments, live music, and the announcement of the award winners make for an unforgettable evening!

The event:

7:00 p.m. – Preface Reception
Meet the finalists, book sales and signing, complimentary passed wine and cash bar.

8:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony
Wine and refreshments, celebrity presenters and more… with live music by modern jazz ensemble, The Willie August Project.

9:30 p.m. –  Epilogue After-Party
Complimentary champagne and desserts, toast the winners and finalists, dance and listen to live music by Southside Aces, featuring jazz and popular tunes spanning over 100 years, all done up in the New Orleans tradition.

Awards will be presented to the winners in eight book categories, as well as the 2016 Kay Sexton Award honoree, Jim Sitter; the 2016 Book Artist Award winner, Wendy Fernstrum; and the 2016 Hognander Minnesota History Award winner, William D. Green for Degrees of Freedom: The Origins of Civil Rights in Minnesota, 1865-1912.
