Opus Exclusive: Nikesha Elise Williams

We’re thrilled that Nikesha Elise Williams will join us for this year’s Opus & Olives in support of The Friends and libraries. In preparation for the big event, we asked Nikesha a few questions to help fans get to know her better. This is an #opusexclusive.

Tell us something people might not know about you.

I’m a big Janet Jackson fan and I’ve been to 10 of her concerts.

What is one thing about your book you are proud of and why?

I am proud that my book is in the world from a major publisher and at this current level. I wrote this book at a time of great personal turmoil when it seemed like all I had were the words I was putting down on the page. My life changed, in part, because I remained committed to writing and finishing The Seven Daughters of Dupree. That people are able to experience a piece of me through this work, that came through personal sacrifice, and it resonates with them will never not bring me joy.

Tell us what you love about libraries.

I love that libraries are both a house of literacy and a hub for community, and they should be preserved at all costs.

Meet Nikesha and the rest of our bestselling lineup on October 11 at the RiverCentre in downtown Saint Paul!
