Based on the most recent financial information, Charity Navigator has calculated a 4-Star rating for The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library for the fifth consecutive year. Very few charities receive this “exceptional” designation from Charity Navigator for five or more consecutive years, a classification that differentiates The Friends from its peers, and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust. We call our basic membership level “Storyteller.” It doesn’t cost a lot, but some of the rewards are priceless: the sense of civic pride that comes from supporting a vital community institution, and the knowledge that your support makes a real difference to the library. But when you share your library stories, it helps the rest of the world understand how important our library is.
The need for a strong library is greater than ever. Attendance and use has jumped as demand for the services and resources offered by the library increases. Learn about how The Friends’ expands the Saint Paul Public Library’s capacity to serve. We can’t do it without your continued support.
Celebrate a wedding, a birthday, a graduation or a special friendship. Honor the memory of a departed friend or relative. Through The Friends' memorials and tributes program, you can remember a loved one or honor a friend with a gift to the Saint Paul Public Library Book Endowment Fund.
The Minnesota Book Awards is a year-round process involving nominations, judging, and the selection of finalists and winners. More importantly, the Awards is a statewide outreach program connecting readers to the work of Minnesota authors. Last year, more than 100 individuals volunteered their time and talents to support the Book Awards.
Including The Friends in your estate plan can be a simple as making a provision in your will or trust. You can do this by designating a specific amount or a specific percentage of your estate as a gift to The Friends. You can also name The Friends as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or make use of a number of life income arrangements.
The Loyalty Circle recognizes those dedicated and visionary donors who have contributed to The Friends for ten or more consecutive years. Since 2008, some of the finest writers in Minnesota have entertained and inspired The Friends’ Loyalty Circle members at the annual recognition breakfast.
The Donor Society recognizes The Friends' most generous individual supporters. Society members make substantial annual gifts to The Friends, such as a contribution of $500 or more. Additionally, individuals or families who have made provisions for The Friends in their estate plan automatically become members of our Donor Society. Mairs & Power is the official sponsor of the Donor Society.
A New Legacy of Learning is a $14.8 million public/private partnership to enhance public library services in Saint Paul. The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library is raising $7.8 million in private dollars to help pay for the complete renovation of Sun Ray Library on the East Side and Highland Park Library in the southwest, as well as modest enhancements to the George Latimer Central Library.
