Opus Exclusive: David Wroblewski

Weโ€™re so thrilled that David Wroblewski will join us for this yearโ€™s Opus & Olives. In preparation for the big event, we asked David a few questions to help fans get to know him better. This is an #opusexclusive.

Tell us something people might not know about you.

Motorcycling is a passion of mineโ€“ took it up in 2012 at the age of 52. These days my wife Kimberly and I both ride โ€œadventureโ€ motorcycles, the Jeeps of the motorcycle world. Weโ€™ll happily cover hundreds of pavement miles in order to explore some remote countryside locale, ideally trundling down a rocky trail and splashing across a creek or two before sitting on the side of the road to eat lunch and look out over a remote river valley.

What is one thing about your book you are proud of and why?

I’m proud of how often readers tell me that Familiaris made them laugh. From the beginning, I’d imagined John Sawtelle’s story as fundamentally comic, so I’ve been holdig my breath, waiting to find out if the story would come across the way I’d hoped.

Tell us what you love about libraries.

Libraries have always been, for me, a refuge and treasure trove. Thereโ€™s nothing like being surrounded, physically surrounded, by books, all available for the reading. And I particularly relish discovering that the book shelved next to the book I thought I wanted is the one that truly interests me.

Meet David and the rest of our bestselling lineup in person on October 13 at the RiverCentre in downtown Saint Paul!
