When Fitzgerald was fourteen years old and living in Saint Paul, he began keeping a diary of his exploits among friends, friendly rivals, and crushes. Published by the University of Minnesota Press, the Thoughtbook is the first publication of a complete transcription of this diary. It includes a new introduction by Dave Page that covers the diaryโ€™s place in Fitzgeraldโ€™s literary development and its revelations about his life and writing process.

The event will be held in the historic and magnificent James J. Hill House, one of Fitzgeraldโ€™s haunts, and a site of the Minnesota Historical Society. The event is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, and is supported by the Richard P. McDermott Fitzgerald Fund of The Saint Paul Foundation.
