In today’s society, there is still a prevailing narrative that frames motherhood as an all-encompassing identity, while fatherhood is often portrayed as secondary or supplementary. Join us for a writing workshop for married fathers to reflect on how fatherhood by their own fathers or father figures shaped them, and what has influenced them to be the fathers they are today. Through writing exercises, storytelling and open discussion, we will unpack the realities of fatherhood in a space made for and by dads.

About the instructor: Suleiman Adan is a writer, poet, and writing teacher whose work has been published in the anthology We are Meant to Rise: Voices for Justice from Minneapolis to the World. Passionate about youth education, he has operated a free tutoring company focused on increasing literacy and proficiency in BIPOC youth, while also serving on Education and Arts boards. Suleiman currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director at CAIR MN, the nation’s largest civil rights organization.
